Pandemic Portrait Project

The Pandemic Portrait Project started at the supermarket three months into the pandemic.
I locked eyes with a woman walking the wrong way down the vegetable aisle.
Her eyes were so intense I couldn't look away. I wanted to ask to take her picture so badly but a strange guy with a cell phone in a mask is creepy so I looked away.
I told this story to Colin, the young man who was checking me out and he agreed to be the first portrait.

Our eyes have become so much more important than they were. We are relying on them more than ever to express our emotion, to show intent and give warning.

These Pandemic Portraits show the strength of people facing an uncertain future, together

Wearing a mask is a personal choice.
It is the choice to be part of the collective that is our country.
It is the choice to be part of We the People.
